Vet2011: 2011, World Veterinary Year

Vet2011"Vet for Health, Vet for food, Vet for the planet"

2011 will mark the 250th world anniversary of veterinary education as the world’s first veterinary school was founded in Lyon, France, in 1761 by Claude Bourgelat, thereby creating the veterinary profession itself.

Originated in France, the Vet2011.org initiative declared 2011 World veterinary Year, celebrating not just the veterinary profession througout the World but also its contribution to improve both animal and human health for the past 250 years.
