Statement of Principles
The International Federation for Animal Health (IFAH) represents manufacturers of veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines and other animal health products throughout the world. Our industry operates within a stringent regulatory framework at global, regional and national level to ensure the quality, efficacy and safety of our marketed products.
IFAH Members are committed to make a tangible contribution to improved health and welfare for both companion and food producing animals and to a better quality of life for animals and people.
· As only healthy animals produce safe and wholesome food, our commitment allows the farming community to provide safe and high quality food at the same time conserving natural resources.
· We actively support a rigorous, science-based product licensing system and the distribution of registered products through authorised channels to ensure their safety and efficacy.
· We take all possible measures to ensure that our products are used properly. With this in mind, we provide reliable and easily accessible product information.
· To ensure that animals have the access to the licensed medicines they need, major investments must continually be made in the development of new medicines. With this in mind, we support principles of data protection and reasonable regulations on intellectual property to support the necessary innovation.
· We adhere to ethical codes of practice on product advertising and promotion, applicable codes of Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice and Pharmacovigilance.
Keeping animals healthy and treating them with dignity is a major objective for IFAH Members, and represents a genuine contribution to society.
