IFAH appoints Bernd Halling as new Communications Director

Brussels, Belgium, 4 October 2005: IFAH, the International Federation for Animal Health, announced today that it has appointed Bernd Halling as Communications Director. He will take up this position in November 2005.

Bernd Halling currently serves as the Senior Programme Officer Planning and External Relations for IDEA, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance. From 1999 – 2004 he worked in EuropaBio, the European association for bio-industries as Director for Public Affairs, and was responsible for political communication and strategy towards the European institutions as well as developing the political platform for the new industry sector Industrial Biotechnology in Europe. Prior to this, he was advisor on Institutional Affairs in the European Parliament from 1994 to 1999.

An Austrian by birth, Bernd Halling has a Magister artium from the Freie Universität and the Humboldt Universität Berlin in history, geography and political sciences. He taught European Public Affairs as professor at the United Business Institute in Brussels.
